IJC gang was invited for offroad exploration on lands nears tarbela Dam by Wajahat Bhai. On the day we were 10 of us on 5 rigs including Wajahat Bhai's Merc G wagon. We left ISB via M1 around 10:30am, from M1 it was onto new Hazara Motorway section before we came onto GT road and finally onto smaller roads leading to the tortuous tracks heading towards the back side of Tarbela Dam. The track was offroad only and rather narrow with plenty sharp U turns requiring multiple forward and reverse on each of them. In fact the angle on one of the turns was so acute, that we decided to go in reverse for nearly 80 meters till we got to next U turn where we straightened our rigs!
The weather was lovely, Slight cloud cover, cool breeze. Plenty chit chat going on the radios between all. Eventually we reached the destination. It was lovely small mountain top setup with beautiful views of Tarbela water reserves. We setup our BBQ pit for the yummy Afghani Tikkas we had brought along. Zeb was as usual feeding us all. We had plenty chilled drinks in the cool boxes. Then there were 4 different kinds of desserts along with quality doodh patti. Most of us just chilled with gup shup session enjoying the lovely views, while some went around walking, exploring and taking snaps.
There was a plan to ride on a speed boat as well on the Tarbela lake, but due to some issue , it didn't materialize. Maybe one day we will head back just for that! On the return journey, our hosts took us on a different track through forest, this had plenty of water streams running through the tracks. It was indeed a very serene drive. Once on the main road, we said our goodbyes and left back via motorway for home, reaching in good time.
Special thanks to Wajahat n his family for extending special invitation to the gang for visiting the area.
Pics coming up soon.
